The American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD) was established in 1984 with the aim of improving patient care in opioid treatment programs across the United States. AATOD represents over 1,300 Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) and has twenty-eight state chapters. The organization is also a key player in the World Federation for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence, which oversees 600 treatment programs in Europe.
