The Spanish Association of Primary Care Pediatrics (AEPap) is built on the foundation of regional associations of Primary Care pediatricians, working groups, and various groups with common interests. This dynamism and diversity enrich it, and we aspire to continue growing with all those activities and people identified with this way of thinking and who contribute to dignifying Primary Care Pediatrics (PAP). The AEPap considers that severe cases of whooping cough in newborns and infants can be prevented through vaccination during pregnancy. Primary Care pediatricians state that economic vulnerability favors poor nutrition and overweight. Key issues facing Primary Care Pediatrics include changes in childhood vaccination, antibiotic resistance, and the effects of climate change on child health. Patients assigned by Primary Care pediatricians exceed the established limits in all autonomous communities. The value of pediatric care in health centers is a necessary perspective. Children and adolescents are accessing pornography and engaging in risky sexual practices at increasingly early ages. One in four students returning to school presents a chronic illness. The Spanish medical profession insists on the need for a national agreement to guarantee our Primary Care, the integrative axis of the National Health System.
